Being a Southern Baptist Minister for 35 years as of 2009, gives me a great joy. Being able to preach, sing and win souls continually. Let me say Thank you so much for checking our updated web site. If you will click the schedule link you will find our 2010 speaking itinerary. Since dates regularly change due to various circumstances, please be sure to validate the event before planning to attend a meeting.

Once again my schedule is wall to wall! I have tried to cut back some, but it seems the more I attempt to do that the more I do but.. I am extremely grateful for such a full and challenging schedule. At an age when many of my friends have retired and slowed down for some strange reason, the Lord seems to have turned it up a notch in my ministry. Please pray He will give me added strength as I continue to week after week.

It is always encouraging to hear from our readers. Plese feel free to contact us anytime about your concerns and your joys. You may write at:

A BIG MAN WITH A BIG HEART

By Rick Hendrix

When Dr. J.L. Cook accepted Jesus Christ as Savior, God called him to preach. His ministry is to bring joy back to the Christians heart. The next few lines are detailed and somewhat painful, but I feel obligated to share the tragic story I have heard Johnny tell. As you read this, remember that these were real people, real hearts and real tears.

Johnny was raised outside of Asheville, NC, by an abusive father. As a child, Johnny never learned how to smile, and he feared for his life daily. Johnny prayed many times for the Lord to take him away. He was so tired of being laughed at for the old clothes he wore. He also grew tired of going hungry and often seeing his mother physically abused.

Johnny sometimes weeps as he recalls the events of this particular evening. One day, his father came home and began beating his mother once again. In an effort to escape, they ran out of the house, down the road to his grandparents house. His father followed them to the house and continued beating them. Johnny looked up from the floor to see his father pounding his mother with both fists. As she fell to the floor unconscious, he continued to strike her. READ MORE ...CLICK HERE
